Here is some information about me and my hobbies.
Apart from my passion for all things radio I also enjoy riding motorcycles along with my wife. I currently own a 2013 Honda NT700VA Deauville, and my Wife has a 2012 Kawasaki KLE650. We both use our motorcycles all year round to visit family, and enjoy ride outs with friends from our church.
Still on two wheels, I also enjoy cycling and in 2010 purchased a carbon framed Focus Cayo with Shimano equipment and use it for fun and to keep fit.
I enjoy working on computers, mainly old machines that I upgrade and press into service in my shack. Currently there are two machines in my shack a Dell Optiplex 745 that I use for electronic logging and as a radio interface for digital modes, and a Optiplex 260 that I use for 2M and 70cm FM SSTV, APRS, and also as a server for my weather station.
This website is another of my hobbies, I started by hosting my first website on an old P3 coppermine processor desktop computer from home in 2001 using Apache server.
In 2002 I moved the website to commercial paid hosting, and updated the site using Serif WebPlus. In 2004 I update my website yet again and built the new site in html using Microsoft Frontpage.
My current website went live in 2012 and is the result of yet another change of direction. This site has been completely rebuilt using a content management system.
I have always had an interest in electronics, and although I find it increasingly difficult to keep up with the new technologies, I still enjoy building and using my own radios and test equipment, you can see projects that I have built on my projects page.
During the better weather I like to go sea fishing. Mainly I fish from the beaches close to my home, the water is only two to three meters deep at high tide, but the beach has plenty of natural food to attract the fish.
You may also here me on the radio while I am fishing. I like to take some fishing gear, and my FT-817ND with me when I go on holiday.
